Anita from V for Victory has an awesome post on the stupid concept of fasting from holy things. In parishes throughout the U. S. (and no doubt other place as stupidity know no boundaries), the faithful are being deprived of one of prime sacramentals of the Church, namely Holy Water. This in spite of the fact that Rome has made it clear that this is only to be done between the Mass of the Lord's Supper and the Easter Vigil. In parishes throughout the U. S. (and no doubt other place as stupidity know no boundaries), children are being denied the Sacrament of Baptism in spite of the fact that we are instructed to baptize children as soon as it is practical. In parishes throughout the U. S. (and no doubt other place as stupidity know no boundaries), Lent is being twisted to promote radical environmentalism and a liberal political agenda instead of being used to draw the faithful closer to Christ.
I propose that we fast from these destructive, useless, and stupid innovations and embrace a traditional, Catholic Lent. Just sayin'.
